MEDITERRANEAN VEGGIE

MASON GROSS SCHOOL OF THE ARTS, RUTGERS UNIVERSITY, NJ, USA 2016.

Installation: Latex paint, found objects.

Mediterranean Veggie gathers a number of elements taken from the current context of work, to explore symbols and systems of display. Along other objects, the sandwich images on the wall, at the center of the installation, were taken from a Domino’s Pizza Sandwich box. Each one is named according to their ingredients and to their geographical or cultural origin -serving as hangers for men ties-. On the floor, an impossible light blue imitation Persian rug. These objects seem to be tangible facts of the broad cultural mixture in our globalized world, inhabiting our public and private spaces. Examples of reductionist practices convenient for mass product market purposes; absurd, beautiful, humorous and insulting.
